Training
Written by Administrator
Training will help you to set up and to use Dragon to best advantage.
Where can I learn to use Dragon software?
Anywhere! We provide training at your workplace or home in the Canberra/Queanbeyan area. And for Dragon users living in rural and regional Australia, we can arrange training via remote access.
Also note that regardless of where you purchased your Dragon software, you are entitled to complimentary technical support from Nuance, for 90 days after your purchase.
How much training do I need?
The amount of training required varies from person to person. We tailor your training to suit your particular needs, so your program will depend upon a number of factors:
- your existing knowledge and skills;
- whether you are using the Premium or Professional edition of Dragon;
- which applications you need to use;
- do you wish to use Dragon just for dictating text? Or do you need to do as many computing tasks as possible by voice?;
- whether you need to customise Dragon by writing custom commands (macros);
- how much time you have for self-directed learning and practice.
Training is usually more effective if delivered over several sessions and spaced appropriately.
For those using Dragon mainly to dictate text, one to two hours support could be enough to get you started on the right track. After some initial assistance, you will be in a better position to learn on your own, and better able to make use of the training resources available online. To access resources, see Information and FAQs and Downloads pages.
Training at your workplace or home
Each training session is usually two hours long and spaced from one to four weeks apart. This allows students time to consolidate and practice between sessions.
In general, we recommend:
- two to six hours training for Premium edition users
- up to 10 hours training for Professional edition users
Those Dragon users generally requiring more specialised training include:
- users with a health condition or disability, including Occupational Overuse Syndrome;
- workplace users who need speech recognition software to be as efficient and productive as possible;
- users who need Dragon for complex computing tasks in several different applications; and
- users who wish to adapt Dragon to work in applications it is not specifically designed for.
If you are unsure about how much training you require, we suggest starting with an initial two-hour session. If more training is needed, we will customise a program to suit you.
Fees for workplace or home training
$198.00 per hour.
A 10% discount applies to invoices paid within 30 days. Discounted rate: $178.20 per hour.
Remote access training and support
For Dragon users living in regional and rural Australia who are not able to access workplace or home training, support is available by telephone and e-mail, and via Windows Remote Assistance.
How does Windows remote assistance work?
At your invitation, we can use Windows Remote Assistance to access your computer and check your Dragon set up.
Using the same system, you are able to access our computer and watch as we demonstrate Dragon.
If you are using Dragon in the workplace, for security reasons, it will probably not be possible to access your computer remotely. However, we can still assist you by telephone and e-mail.
