What is the difference between Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Dragon Dictate?
Dragon NaturallySpeaking works on Microsoft Windows operating systems, Dragon Dictate is designed for Mac operating systems.
Our view is that Dragon NaturallySpeaking (for PC) is more functional and more user-friendly than Dragon Dictate (for Mac). However Dragon NaturallySpeaking will not work on Mac operating systems.
While Dragon NaturallySpeaking has a high level of functionality in most Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, DragonDictate 2 .5 has limited functionality outside of Notepad - Dragon Dictate's own word processing system.
For speech recognition software users who:
- are using the software at work and want to work as efficiently as possible; and /or
- have a health condition or disability, and want to do as many computing tasks as possible by voice; and
- have the possibility of using a PC rather than a Mac;
We recommend that you consider purchasing Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
If you are a Mac user and you want to use speech recognition software, it will need to be Dragon Dictate.
